Between 20 and 23 June 2019. Numismatic symposium Ruse was held in the Danube city. The event is organized in partnership by the Numismatic Museum of Ruse and the Regional Historical Museum of Ruse. The topic of the forum is "Coin Hoards in Southeastern Europe 1st - 6th century AD" and is part of a large international project for collective coin finds discovered in the Roman Empire ( In addition to the representatives of the Regional Historical Museum - Ruse headed by Professor Nikolay Nenov and Professor Dimitar Draganov from the Numismatic Museum - Ruse, ten other Bulgarian scientists from the National Archaeological Institute with Museum - Sofia, the museums in Targovishte, Varna, Shumen and Pomorie.
There are six participants from Romania, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Christian Gazdak (Oxford Project Coordinator), Dr. Emanuel Petak, President of the Romanian Numismatic Society, Dr. Mihai Dima, National Bank of Romania.
Dr. Lilya Dergachova is from Moldova, Dr. Konstantin Skvortsov is from Russia, and Dr. Ulrike Peter is from Germany.
Scientists from Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia and Hungary are also participating. There is also a large Polish group - six scientists, including the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the XVI International Numismatic Congress in Warsaw (in 2021) - Professor Alexander Bursche, as well as the Secretary of the Congress Dr. Ana Zapolska.
As part of the symposium, Numismatic Museum - Ruse will present the exhibition "Coins of the Scythian Kings".
